European clocks have gone forward! Are your Magento reports up to date?

If you're a regular user of viewing and analysing data from Magento 1 using the in-built reporting tool, you might find that recently, the data is either incorrect, out of date or might have information missing for specific dates.

When heading into a report within the admin under the Reports menu item, a key notice should be displayed near the top of the page.

A couple of days ago at the weekend, the clocks in Europe went forward by one hour. Sure enough on Monday, a request was raised to look into inaccurate Sales reports within the Magento admin.

The fix is simple. As the message suggests, the Lifetime Statistics need to be updated.

This is not resolved by clicking on the message just below the initial timezone notice that reads: To refresh last day's statistics, click here.

Lifetime statistics can be refreshed by heading to Reports -> Refresh Statistics in the admin and choosing the reports you want refreshing. Next, on the same page, change the Actions dropdown to Refresh Lifetime Statistics and click Refresh.

Depending on how much data you've got in your Magento system will depend on the time it takes for the statistics to refresh. It shouldn't take a huge amount of time, and when complete, your reports should be back to normal.

This should resolve most of the reporting issues, especially if issues have only started occurring since the time change. However, there may be exceptional circumstances where data from reports may still be inaccurate.
